After a dimly lit taxi ride from the airport, our first impression of Brazil was not a good one, at least at night. We had flown most of the day, with frequent stops, and we were tired. I was in a business trip, and I can assure that this hotel is disgusting... even the water on the bath sink is sort of yellow... the place smells mold. more

Thanks to many many Amex rewards points, we spent 5 nights at the Belem Hilton for free. In fact, that was our main reason for visiting this city. The Hilton has seen better days, decor-wise, and could use a makeover. The halls have a lot of dark wood, and the energy-saving bulbs in the fixtures make it look gloomy. But... more
