The previous posters seemed to nail it: The Extended Stay is probably the best value in downtown Austin. I checked extensively and found few if any hotels in that area at a cheaper rate. This isn't a luxury hotel, but for a stay longer than a couple of days, it's perfect. Basic rooms, but with reasonable cooking facilities so you don't have to eat out all the time (microwave, stove top, no oven, huge fridge) - fridge a bit noisy at night, though.
