My husband and I stayed at the Shimizu Inn in Shirakawago for one night in mid-March, and we were underwhelmed by this establishment. Our room was freezing, despite having our own personal space heater in the room. In November 2006, my wife and I and four other friends, took a two hour bus trip from Takayama to Shirawakago Village which is a UNESCO World Cultural and Heritage Site nestled in a valley.
