If you're after a mid-range hotel in Varkala, I can't rate this place highly enough. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and in a great position, in the middle of the cliff overlooking the Arabian Sea. It's pretty simple and no-frills, but to me it's all you need in a laidback place like Varkala. Everything is very easy - you're just steps away... more

We loved our stay in this hotel. Staff was very friendly, rooms were very clean and the seaview is breathtaking! Also, it is absolutely true that the hotel's restaurant is by far the best on the cliff. I recommend this hotel to all my friends and hope to stay here again. more

The general theme of most of the reviews below is spot on. The hotel is not the cheapest in Varkala, but it is not break-the-budget expensive either. Stayed for 2 nights while touring Kerala in April 07. Good location, breakfast fine, good restaurant & staff. Poor room - broken toilet cistern, noisy fan, incomprehensible air con with a mind of it's own. Forced to sleep without fan or a/c because of problems with both. There is better value accomodation on the cliff in Varkala, I wouldn't pay... more

After a month long tour of India we can honestly say that this was the best hotel we stayed at. It is a haven of peace and tranquility with a prime location on the North Cliff. We spent 3 nights at the Hill View Hotel in Varkala. I was a little worried as it wasn't listed in the Rough Guide, however when we arrived it couldn't have been better. From the moment Mr.Alim Sha and his driver collected us at Trivandrum airport for just 700 rupees, to the moment he drove us to our next destination 1.5 hours away for 700 rupees, and everything in between, the Hill View Beach Resort was fanastic.
