I arrived at the Hotel De La Paix after staying at The Penisula in Hong Kong. I also manage a small boutique hotel very similar to La Paix in another difficult country. I loved the hotel. It was obvious that a tremendous amount of time had been spent on staff training. The staff were always friendly and smiling. There were... more

I was in Siem Reap in 2004 (stayed at Le Meridien) and wanted to try a more central location. This hotel is gorgeous, with all the trappings of a boutique hotel, but the longer I stayed the more the impression unraveled. Foremost problem was the murky brownish water -- from the faucet, in the toilet, the tub and the shower. I... more

Management response from

As I have mentioned in a previous response last year, I will leave responses regarding our service and style/design for others to judge. However I would certainly like to acknowledge and address the issue relating to water quality at the hotel recently. Indeed we did encounter unexpected problems with water quality for a few days recently. As mentioned, it was...

The location is in the centre of town, within very easy walk to the Pub Street and Old Market. The room was good size with very good airconditioning (you need that in Siem Reap after a hot and humid day in the temple). The breakfast was fair, they offer cook dishes but otherwise the selection was small. The cafe offer... more

We were looking forward to staying at this hotel having seen all the beautify pictures on the website. The reality proved much different however. While the rooms were descent we found rest of the hotel disappointing. For a five star hotel we expected much more. Pool was tiny and hidden in the back of the hotel. Barely any room to... more

If you are looking for an upscale, relaxing oasis while you take a break from the temples. . . the De la Paix is perfect. The rooms are spacious, well appointed and the service is fantastic. The food is great (although I had most of my meals outside of the hotel) The hotel staff was also fantastic. I had a... more

Hotel De La Paix is right in the middle of town, with all this brings. On the plus side, a short walk to pub street and great local eating, markets (old market and night market were our favourites, central market was a bit sad) and bike hire (a great way to see the nearby villages). On the negative side, you... more

Hotel de la Paix rates as one of my best hotel experiences after many years of travelling. The stylish design of the rooms, public areas and spa is part of what makes this such a memorable stay. From the in-room check-in to iPods playing cool tunes on arrival, you feel like you're on holiday from the minute you walk through... more

We booked this hotel based on the other good reviews and were not disappointed. We had a very comfortable stay and thought the service was excellent. We booked a standard room and it was more than adequate (not small, as I had on reviews prior to going)with some lovely touches. We enjoyed having the iPod with great selection of tunes... more

The Hotel de la Paix has successfully created a refined yet funky atmosphere, close to the night-life of siem reap. The rooms are well appointed, extremely comfortable and stylishly designed. The Meric restaurant is arguably the best in Siem Reap. The pool area is luxurious. It's probably the quirky touches that are the most memorable: champagne and bloody marys with... more

Second time at the de la Paix, after 2006. This time we splurged out and stayed at the Duplex Spa Suite with its private roof terrace. Amazing in the moon light and cute little lizzards everywhere, most gorgeous! One little downside: mozzies ... and they will get you, a bit of a worry in light of Dengue fever risks. The... more
