The Koreana is a great place to stay - it has a fabulous location, just across from the central city hall square, and the staff are very friendly. I don't know what all the suggestions that there is no shampoo in the rooms are about - they definitely give you shampoo!! I think my only gripe is that there was... more

I selected this hotel for its location as advocated by lonely planet and other reviews. However I was disappointed. Pros - friendly and efficient chambermaids - near to Cheonggyechon (stream) and KNTO HQ - KAL bus-stop is located right in front of the hotel - the deluxe room is spacious - they changed the TV to a huge flat screen... more

When I first booked this hotel at hotelclub.com, I was a bit worried after reading some of the negative reviews on this hotel. However, it has a airport shuttle bus stop right at the front door and as I do not know any Korean, this is very important to me. So, I still booked this hotel. When I arrived, the... more

1970s pretty sums up my experience with this hotel, in terms of outfitting and service levels. Counter staff are cold and not helpful when approached for directions. Concierge has no clue about restaurants outside the hotel and places of interest. No one offered to carry my bags to my room. No shampoo or shower gels are provided. Thankful that i... more

Stayed two nights here. Let me state that I disagree with some of the comments about the hotel being "tired and worn". I didn't find this true at all. Sheets were as crisp and new as possible, same for towels. There was one stain on the carpet, furniture wasn't that old, lobby very modern and clean. Same for restaurants. The... more

I stayed here over the New Year's Holiday and couldn't have booked a better hotel -- the New Year's Eve festivities were literally across the street! The hotel itself was perfect for me, with high-speed internet available from my room (free with the rate I got) and an awesome breakfast buffet with western and Korean food (also complimentary). My room... more

I stayed here while on an Interview in Korea. In many ways it was fun because I was transported back to what a Hotel might have been like in the 50's/60's. Other than that I would not mention it at all really. more

I stayed at the Koreana for one night and found it to be an average hotel in the heart of Seoul. Check in was smooth. Receptionist spoke English well. No problems. Bellhop could speak English and provided the usual baggage services in return for a tip ~ tipping is not usually done in Korea, so I was surprised he 'expected'... more

Stayed here back in September. Vired tired hotel. Badly in need of renovation. Tattered bedsheets. Worn towls. Poor communication skills among staff. Bland food. Breakfast choice limited. Gym costs extra. Felt more like a hotel in China than in the capital city of Korea. Filled with package tourists from Japan and China. While cheaper than most downtown hotels, not good... more

The Koreana is a pleasant hotel with a friendly staff. I have stayed three different times in the past two months. The rooms are comfortable with a warm atmosphere. The housekeeping staff was superb each time, attentive and responsive. The location at the Gwanghwamun is very convenient to sights and restaurants. It's not a knock-your-socks-off place, but it's really quite... more
