The fact that the letter presented to me as I left the hotel, requesting me to write this review, began "Dear Mr xxxx" (I am a woman travelling with my teenage daughter) sums up my experience of the Alchymist - lack of attention to detail. We had booked through a website and requested a twin room. On arrival we were... more

Allow me to tell that the departure letter unfortunately stating Mr. instead of Mrs. was our mistake. To make it all clear we used the name correctly not XXX instead of a guest name. Our hotel does not sell twin rooms on internet because we simply do not have enough of those to handle properly. (Part from three deluxe rooms...

This was my first time in the Czech Republic and Prague. I would not hesitate to return to Prague and I would stay at the Alchymist Grand Hotel. My wife and I stayed at the Alchymist at the end of March. Not the best time of the year weather-wise, but interesting. There were snow showers for our first three days,... more

My partner and I stayed here for Valentines Day weekend in 2008 for 3 nights and absolutely loved it. We chose the hotel due to the brilliant reviews it received here on tripadvisor, and were very glad we did so. We booked the lowest priced room plus standard jeep transfer to and from the airport (50 euros). Imagine our surprise... more

We have just returned from 4 days at the Hotel Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa in Prague across from the US Embassy (very secure area!). This was our second visit (1st one was in November 2007) and the hotel had a welcome home letter ready for us in the same room that we had in November. A bottle of bubbly... more

This hotel had a lot of things going for it but we had some difficulties and I think overall it would have been better had we chosen an alternate hotel. To start, we had arranged an airport pickup (i had emailed and confirmed twice). After waiting about 45 minutes (over an hour and a half after landing on time) we... more

I apologize to answer to this review with some delay, but I was trying to contact the kind reviewer to get more information about the unlucky airport pickup. Up to now I unfortunately received no answer from her, so I may only try to guess what happened. We have our own driver, Peter, who is well known among our guests...

Stayed four nights at the Alchymist to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The hotel made it a very special occasion for us, everything was perfect and nothing too much trouble for the staff. We booked a suite were not disapointed, it was very spacious with a comfortable sitting area there was even a hand painted ceiling and chandelier in the... more

Prague, Czech Republic: Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa Reviewer: No Place Like Roam January, 2008 Sometime around the second week of January, 2008, after reading mostly favorable reviews of the Alchymist on this site, I visited the hotel's website to learn more about the hotel and its rates and amenities. One of the things I learned from its site was,... more

Well, I guess that this very disappointed reviewer wouldn’t be happy to hear that e-mails, like everything in this human World, may get lost, assuming that they have been anyway sent to the proper and correct e-mail address. It is a simple and basic matter of good manners and not just our sincere pleasure to answer to all the e-mails,...

I had no expectations of this hotel as it was booked for me as a surprise by my boyfriend, however when we arrived I was absolutely stunned to find a real life fairytale folding out in front of my eyes. From check-in to check-out the service was excellent(including a tour of the hotel by the porter to familiarise ourselves with... more

My friend and I have just spent 3 nights at the Alchymist and it was everything we expected - and more! Yes, it is a fest of brocade and gilt but it was not out of character! The bedrooms were comfortable, warm (I was worried about that in February!) and we were convinced there were ladies under the bed who... more
