Ugh, gross. Palace Backpackers is quite possibly the worst place that we have ever stayed. It was disgusting and has absolutely nothing going for it. It claims to be the newest hostel in Hervey Bay – this is pretty much a plain lie. Maybe the management has changed, but if so, all they have done is take over a grotty... more

Stayed here for one night out of season in May, as a result it was cold and rainy and there were no whales, but we used HB to break up the journey south. Palace was a nice place to stay, we had a little flat type house thing to ourselves, with shower and kitchen etc, we went out for our... more
