One of the better independent hostels I stayed in while in Ireland. Clean, spacious rooms with comfy mattresses. Very clean, semi-private bathrooms that you don't have to share with everybody else at the hostel. Huge, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of storage space and a large fridge. Big sitting room with old fireplace is nice to relax in too. Nice outdoor... more
So we had three weeks in Ireland. We stayed in a hotel, we stayed in B&B's, we stayed in Hostels, and we stayed with friends. In the name of experiencing something different I decided to book with The Skellig. Umm, yeah. Cool place with a lot of history and the nights we stayed were spooky adding to the feeling but... more
Dingle was our first stop in Ireland, and the Ballintaggart was a wonderful place to start. I didn't think so at first though... It is about 1.6 km out of town, and walking on a very narrow highway was not pleasant after a 13 hr plane trip and a 2 hr bus ride. Once we arrived, though, the staff was... more
I really enjoyed my stay at Ballintaggart House, there is DVDs to watch, a tv room, a common room, and great shower and toilet facilities. I stayed in a en-suite room with my friends and there was bunks and a double bed we needed an extra bed so they brought in a bed for us. There is a playground and... more
I've stayed in many hostels, hotels and Bed and Breakfasts all around Ireland and but no place has come close to Ballantaggart House. The building, 300 years old, overlooks vast countryside, small mountains (or large hills!) and Dingle Bay. This provided a stunning setting for nearby cliff walks and beach combing. Kind and friendly staff continually greeted us as we... more
We're not sure what the buses were like getting to & from town from this hostel, as we had our own car, so this may be a problem for some travellers. Otherwise, great, friendly hostel with lovely kitchen & grounds. Nice quiet location! more
We'd been looking forward to staying at Ballintaggart as part of our travels around south west Ireland. The website had really sold the place and the reviews looked good. They were misleading.... Perhaps the first sign that something was amiss was the "Out of Order" notice on a snack machine by the front door. That could apply to the whole... more
I stayed in Ballintaggart last year for over a week and i fell in love with the place almost immediately. There is such a mysteroius, romantic feel to this place, its almost impossible to describe unless you go there. The location is fantastic, with five minutes to the beach and not too far from the town although at night time I... more
Don't be put off by what might come across as a casual approach when you contact these people - it's all part of a well crafted plan to make relaxed holiday accomodation look easy. We were touring Ireland during a long trip around Europe, checked in for a weekend and stayed two weeks!! The accomodation is everything you could wish... more
