The Institut St Sebastian is, I strongly suspect, the cheapest accommodation anywhere near the Old Town of Salzburg, and that alone makes it well worth consideration by anyone interested. It's handy for public transport to and from the main train station, although the directions I was given were a bit sketchy both ways. Just remember that it's on the grounds... more

We stayed for 2 nights and found it was good value and clean. the location was good. easy walk to/from train station and centre of town. recpetion was friendly enough. nice roof to chill out on. good value vending machine for cold drinks. lots of space in room. our room had nice view. but it did get a bit loud... more

I stayed in a twin room with a friend. The hostel is located right beside St Sebastian church. I'll list down the pros and cons of staying there: Pros: 1. Very clean room 2. Relatively quiet 3. Just off Linzer Gasse, a shopping street 4. There is a lift in the hostel (5 floors), but to go upstairs only. You... more

We stayed at the Institut for 3 nights in June 2007. I really enjoyed our stay there! We were traveling with our 20-year old daughter, so we had a triple room with our own bath. Although space was tight and the furnishings dorm room and basic, the beds were comfortable and everything was very clean! The young women who worked... more

I stayed here just for one night on my way through Salzburg to the mountains and it was just perfect. Low rates, super clean, basic and comfortable. the location is very convenient. I wanted to take advantage of the few hours I had to see the old town and this was easy to do. I was able to leave my... more

The Institute St. Sebastian is an excellent value. It's not fancy, but it is clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent, offering easy access to sites. I would certainly recommend it. If you want to be pampered, look somewhere else (and pay much more). But if you're looking for clean, inexpensive accomodation, this is it. more

Remember those dorm rooms that you saw in pictures before you went to college? You know, the ones that were spotless that had nothing but a perfectly made bed, freshly painted walls, new desk and nice light fixtures - that is exactly what my room looked like. This is definitely no frills. But, it was spotless, efficiently run, safe and... more

Housing students most of the year, the rooms are exactly like any other dorm room I have seen. Very simple with twin beds. Our room did have its own bathroom though. Includes basic breakfast of rolls and jam - ask for seconds if you want more. Very clean and quite and in convenient location for train and city sites. Nearby... more

Excellent location--10 minute walk to old Salzburg. Lovely spacious coffee shop next door. As this hotel is literally within the grounds of a church, it is a quirky place. The halls are large and voices outside of our room tended to echo on the tiled floors. Religious iconography is prevalent, particularly the giant cross above the door frame in our... more
