I visited Salzburg with 9 other family members as a group. I read some of the reviews of the hotel before I went and did not really know what to expect! I will tell it like it is: the location is fantastic for the access to the old town and the 'new' town, the staff were very friendly without exception,... more

The hotel is just 200m from the old town but in an area that gives you a local feel. The hotel restaurant and local hosteleries give a good taste of traditional food. The decoration of the hotel is very Austrian. The staff are helpful and thankfully multilingual. The hotel is traditional city hotel for the area. The rooms are big,... more

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The reception staff and breakfast staff were very friendly. The food in the restaurant was very good. It is a great location. more

We stayed here over Xmas 07 and it was worth every penny. Lovely big room, quite modern. Would have liked a big double bed but we got the two twins pushed together you get so often in Europe. This was the only complaint and pretty minor at that. The food was lovely, breakfast plentiful served by lovely friendly staff. The... more

We have just spent 4 days at this historic hotel and had a wonderful time. Our clean and well furnished L-shaped room (a triple) on the 4th floor overlooking the Christmas decorated street, was huge and had a king sized bed and a very comfortable full sized double sofabed which was made up for our daily use. There was loads... more

Stayed here for a week, leading up to the Mozart festival. Firstly, as others have mentioned - this is not a 4* hotel - the bed/bath rooms are of a good size and well cleaned, however are basic. There is no mini-bar/air con etc and the 'satellite' tv consists of 30 German channels and CNN. HOWEVER - the hotel staff... more

Hotel in a great location in the city centre. I booked a single room which was fairly basic, not really 4 star but clean and a good size for a single. The bathroom was clean and modern. A good buffet breakfast was offered with the usual selection of breads, fruit, cereal, cheese, yogurt, etc and a small hot selection. The... more

We turned up in Salzburg having already booked a hotel out by the airport and were just planning on having a look around. We walked in to the Gablerbrau and realised we had stayed there some 9 years earlier. We asked how much a room would cost and were very pleased with the rate of 108 euros for a double.... more

We stayed for 6 nights on August 2006 at the Gablebrau, and I must say that the hotel failed to meet our expectations. First of all this is certainly not a 4-star hotel whatsoever. Rooms were average in size and furnished in a very minimal, indifferenet 2-star hotel way. The only4 - star thing about this hotel was the breakfast.... more

We stayed here in July. We're a family of 5, so we were in two rooms. I had upgraded the rooms, and I have no complaints about the rooms at all. They were both very spacious with lots of room. No Airconditioning is the only criticism that I could make, but they provided two fans in the rooms so the... more
