I stayed only one night at the 101 after a few days of business meetings at another hotel so my experience here is limited. The decor is original modern chic and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable - the bed and shower were exceptionally good. The location is excellent: a few steps away from Laugavegur where a lot of... more

I just adored this little gem. It is well located, away from the noisy bars that are very close to the Borg Hotel, but right in the middle of everything. The rooms are fantastic, very modern with an outstanding bathroom. I had a corner suite with a fabulous view of the harbour and midnight sun. My suite had a long... more

Sorry for the late review, we stayed here a while ago, but I wanted to write about the wonderful experience we had at 101, especially after reading so many negative comments. Yes, 101 is pricey, but the whole country is expensive. This is not a country to visit if you are on a tight budget. We arrived at 101 quite... more

I have to say, I religiously checked tripadvisor reviews of the Hotel 101, hoping to see a positive one prior to my trip in mid-August (for marathon & culture fest). I did not see one positive review. That said, it was too late for me to back out of my reservations with Hotel 101, and I am glad I was... more

The rooms are extremely small, the staff is very pretentious and not only do they over-charge for the rooms but they stick you with a hefty fine if you over-stay your check out time by an hour or more. Definitely not worth the money! more

We picked this one up through the Mr amd Mrs Smith hotel guides and longed to go there. Our honeymoon was a great excuse. The hotel is VERY central so is 30 secs walk from shops and restaurants. We knew that it was in a ugly grey concrete block but that does not do it justice - it is a... more

I'm usually suspicious of self-proclaimed 'design hotels', but like Reykjavik and Iceland itself, Hotel 101 is a gem, and full of surprises. Housed in a nondescript black brick building (right off the city's main nightlife street), you walk into a welcoming and cosy hotel whose size, rooms, restaurant and staff can't help but make you smile. The rooms themselves must... more

I stayed here for 3 nights with my fiancee. The hotel was clean and designed in very contemporary scandinavian way. The service was friendly, but not very professional. The breakfast was pretty good and basic, but not complimentary. In room minibar had a good selection of drinks and snacks. We had a nice time in the spa room that has... more

Spent 2 nights in the 101 as part of our honeymoon. Room was very black/white and glass with stand alone sink, very comfy bed, great massive windows looking out to sea. It was pefect for us, bar downstairs is a bit full of beautiful people - there are plenty better bars around. The hotel is in a great location -... more

Hotel was fantastic, but recommended Olafur from Luxury Adventures for our day trips. Extremely pricey and very poor customer service. All dinner reservations were incorrect. Paid approx. $1500/day for someone to drive us around for 8 hours and show us the sights. All admission costs were also excluded from that price. Hotel should reconsider making further recommendations of Luxury Adventures.... more
