We stayed in this hotel in December '07 as we were in portugal to celebrate a 60th birthday. We have been to Luz many many times, we normally stay in my partners parents villa just up the road but that was already taken so we decided on this hotel. I completely agree with the previous review. It was not 'up' on tripadvisor when I book my stay the 1st-8th sept so we had to take a risk. The hotel was perfect for us we had all the advantages of a hotel, daily maid service, pool, bar etc but with the freedom of an apartment. We ate in every night... more

Let me start by clearing up any confusion - Despite my 5* rating this is clearly not a 5* hotel. That is of course because the Vila-Luz is officially an “Aparthotel” and therefore quite unique with respect to its offering.
