My wife and I spent 2 nights of our honeymoon in December at the Intercontinental and we have to admit that it's a beautiful hotel with a very convenient location. Our room was spacious and clean and the bathroom had a wonderful tub. Breakfasts were delicious as well as dinner. No 5-star rating however as some of the staff were... more

Lovely old hotel at a canal.. Rooms are classic and beautiful with the best rainshower in the world as far as I can tell..the bath fills in a short while which is also great.. The restaurant is nice as well as the bar downstairs with a lovely view of the canals. more

Just echoing the statements below: this hotel has old world charm, amazing service and every element of luxury one could hope for. The canal side location is used to great effect in the lounge, restaurant and bars. The semi-private lift to the suites is another great feature. The only drawback for me was the location. I prefer to be a... more

The building is nice even if a bit outside of the action. The doorman is always at hand and friendly. Check-in -seated- is prompt and courteous. Most, not to say all, the staff members are nice and ready to help. The room, actually an Executive Suite, is nicely furnished as is the bathroom. The overall feel is really nice but... more

I wanted a great hotel in Amsterdam with a pool for a leisure stay. The Amstel was the most fantastic place to stay; cost an arm and a leg but worth it if you can afford it. Great room, food, service, nothing at all to complain about. I was a little worried about the distance from the centre of Amsterdam... more

The Amstel is a seriously plush and beautiful hotel. The exterior is quite regal and overlooks The Amstel canal, hence the name. The service was pleasant and we were treated with highly professional customer service. The rooms were huge and had all the facilities, that one would expect. The minibar, would have to be the best I have ever seen... more

Staff at this hotel are not so helpful and have a surly attitude. Rooms are outdated and the corridors smell. Should be closed and properly renovated. Bathrooms also are old and leaky. more

My wife and I have just stayed stayed three nights at the IC Amstel. What a wonderful hotel. We stayed at the hotel using Priority Club rewards Points, and ww were upgraded to an Executive Suite. Our room was fantastic - antique furnishings - our room had a wonderful sitting area including a small library- partioned off sleeping area and... more

On our way to Kenya, exhausted from our NYC red eye flight, my wife and I arrived in Amsterdam bleary eyed at the Intercontinental around 9am. We were cheerfully greeted and promptly seated at the check-in desk. We expected (reasonably) to leave our bags at the hotel and trudge around the city. To our surprise, our room was not only... more
