This is a reliable four-star hotel in Zermatt which offers excellent friendly service with a great location just across the street from the most effective main lift to the ski system. Had a wonderful 10 days in this hotel. The location is superb, directly opposite the Sunnega lift. With the ski areas linked, I could walk out of the hotel, get the Sunnega lift up and ski over to the Matterhorn area quicker than getting the bus and queuing to get up the Matterhorn lifts. Having spent one month touring France and Switzerland, I have to say that Hotel National was the best hotel of our holiday. The hotel is in a fabulous location, just opposite the Sunnegga Ski Lifts, and only a few minutes walk from the main train station (to reach Gornergrat).
