Domus Mariae is a converted convent that still is run by and still serves as a residence for some nuns. It is absolutely a find. Wonderful location. The hotel's location is excellent, on the island of Ortygia. Our rooms had excellent views overlooking the sea. The rooms were comfortable, if not luxuriously appointed. The Domus Mariae is in a great location, overlooking the water, and an easy walk to anywhere in Ortigia. We asked for a room away from the water, as we had read that rooms facing the water are noisy. This hotel is NOT easy to find if you arrive at night. There are no elevators, so hauling bags up the many flights of stairs was NOT fun!
