Stayed here with my family before departing on a cruise to Greece. They accomidated all 6 of us in 3 rooms for a weekend stay. Everything was clean and the staff was very attentive. They even have AC units! A must in Venice during the summer months. The breakfast was more than enough. They even made eggs if you'd like.... more

When I booked the hotel, there wasn't a room left in the main hotel, so I was booked into the 2 star annex. I had a single room to myself, and bathroom. The room was tiny but adequate and clean with airconditioning, good window coverings, and cable tv (CNN). The only real complaint I had was the bathroom. It was... more

If you've stayed in city hotels and are realistic about the fact 'you get what you pay for', this is an excellant value for money hotel. We were given a free upgrade to the 3* area of the hotel as I e-mailed the hotel prior to arrival and gave some bull ---- about getting engaged...if you don't ask you don't... more

We were pleased with our two-night stay at the Hotel Basilea, in a room that fondly became known as our 'chandelier closet'. We stayed in a building across the way from the main hotel and lobby. Our room was wide enough to accommodate a twin bed and a sink and long enough for two beds. A chandelier hung from the... more

This hotel seems to have received mixed reviews so here's our spake!: We found it very easily to be honest and we had to cross only 3 bridges to find it, it was signposted so perhaps other visitors did not see the signs. We had been dreading an hour of sheer lugging across watery streets and endless bridges so were... more

I was a little apprehensive when I read the reviews here and they were all over the map. My conclusion is that if someone wants 4 or 5 star service and amenities, stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel. If you don't want to carry your bags over 3 or 4 bridges, don't come to Venice for heaven's sake... more

I booked it over the internet and arrived there as we planned at the 9 o'clock evening after a long day at Florence, We are exhausted! And is this little place to provide us with the warm room, hot shower, very comfortable beds for me, my wife and our 2 children. We've slept like the baby... And, the breakfast next... more

Okay so I may be a bit of a hotel snob as I work for a one of the largest premier hotel companies in the world, but even so I would say that this was a definite "average" hotel. The hotel desperately needs updating - the breakfast is great, service is very hit and miss, our room was cramped. However,... more

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my wife. Was not easy to find but that's part of the charm of Venice which is a beautiful place. I had booked a cash only deal that the hotel had advertised and I emailled the hotel to inform them that we would be arriving late in the evening. Despite the cash... more

Hotel Basilea is listed as a quaint hotel - convenient to the train station. Yes, if you want to carry luggage over three bridges. The front desk person is not helpful and the hotel is run down, not quaint -also not very clean. NO ELEVATOR!!! and also no help with bags up the stairs. Asked front desk to book water... more
