Three wonderful nights in Hotel des Bains...a very special place to be. Tastes differ: if you are looking for a perfect service, topmodern comfort, very well-kept rooms etc. , this may be not the right place for you. On the other hand: if you are looking for a nostalgic and romantic atmosphere you will not be disappointed. Even the hold-back... more

The hotel was nice. And I certainly recommend staying in Lido Beach, it was nice to be away from the hustle and bustle away from the city main area. The hotel was grand with large rooms and huge chandeliers throughout. The fitness room was nice with up-to-date equipment. The pool was nice, however no hot tub and it was generally... more

Wow! One of my fave places in the world! If you are in Venice for one night it is not your best option but if you are there to stay for a few days it is just perfect. You can get to Lido by vporetto or by the free shuttle leaving from the neighbouring Excalibur every hour. Rooms are huge... more

We too did not know that the hotel had had a recent fire. The hotel is in the process of "updating or fixing" Does not matter. We orginally booked 2 rooms, close to each other. Not only were they not close to each other, they were on different floors and different parts of the hotel they could only be accessed... more

This is a "Grand" hotel in the old style. In a good position on Venice Lido it has its own beach, gardens, pool etc. It is a very large hotel with great potential. However the hotel had sufered a fire in February and had not thought it a good idea to inform me or Expedia!! At least half the hotel... more

Generally clean but needs updateing in certain area's but didnt bother me or my girlfriend to much. However make sure you bring an iron. We asked to borrow one and they told us not to worry as they... more

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the Des Bains For anyone who's seen Death in Venice, the hotel has barely changed, and we loved wandering its old opulent corridors and public rooms The pool is huge and set in landscaped grounds with tall trees surrounding it. The beach cabanas were lovely and filled with Italian families chilling... more

A completely great time. While the hotel hallways are a bit worn, our rooms were beautiful and enormous by any standard. The staff was always helpful and pool area was great for the kids. We stayed on site during the hottest times of day. The cafes overlooking Venice from the Lido were inexpensive and the food was terrific and were... more

Maybe there are better rooms but my huge room 130 was in dire need of a makeover. Pale carpet was badly stained, furniture chipped and the general look was of neglect. The bed was comfortable with great bed linen. The airconditioning unit was in the wall - the grille had fallen off and the wall wasbadly stained around the outlet.... more

I stayed at this hotel several times in the late 90's. It is hands down my favorite hotel to date. It is peaceful and elegant. The rooms are gorgeous and one can here doves cooing in the afternoon. They have a nice pool area. It is a little less chic than its sister hotel the Excelsior down the street, but... more
