This hotel was incredibly insensitive. I had a death in the family that forced me to cancel two days before I arrived. I called them on time, and noone informed me that I had to cancel online. This also is not stated clearly on their website. They have sent me several nasty e-mails. more

I had planned our trip to Spain for the past year and the consensus opinion amongst all of the guidebooks I regularly use (Rick Steves, Frommer's and Lonely Planet) about where to stay in Madrid was the Hotel Plaza Mayor so I never really considered any other place. These people will bend over backwards to help you with whatever you need. Service is their strength. The room was secure, clean, and fairly comfortable (beds not plush). We were satisfied with our stay and would book again. more

Very good location - close to plaza and within walking distance of cathedral, palace & botanical gardens. Friendly staff. No bar, no tea/coffee facilities in room - only vending machine in foyer. Not suitable for elderly or infirm with luggage as lift starts on the first floor more
