A friend and I visited Barcelona in early September, and we started looking for a hotel at the end of July. Barcelona, like NYC, is known for having expensive hotels, and for whatever reason, every reasonably priced hotel ($100-$150) was already completely booked. I booked my room through the internet. My booking confirmation showed the total price of the room, the booking fee I had paid and the remaining amount to be paid at the hotel.
