The Sheraton is at this moment still the only 5* hotel in the whole 'Ruhrgebiet'. It has unfortunately not used this to its advantage. After reading some of the reviews I want to add a 'connecting comment'. I have stayed here on a business trip for over 2 weeks now and have viewed the different rooms. All first floor rooms... more

*On arrival they assigned me the wrong room. In stead of an Executive Suite (which I booked), they wanted to put me in a standard room. After calling to the central reservations they finally believed that I really did book a suite, and got the correct room. *The suites itself are spacious and comfortable. Of course internet charges in the... more

We stayed - me and my wife - in march 2007. Maybe 5 star are a little bit overestimated, but 4 are more than deserved. Overall the hotel is very nice. Nice location with parking facility under the hotel, friendly staff, Incredible breakfast. The center and the shopping district is a walk away, so it's the train station (in case... more

I never thought I would have gone to Essen, Germany... but Since the LOVE PARADE was hosted there this year, we decided to make the trek. It turned out that the Sheraton Essen was the cheapest hotel we could find that weekend anyways! Lucky us! We arrived in Essen by train, so the hotel was actually within walking distance... mind... more

An up-market business hotel in the centre of town, in walking distance of the rail station (provided you don't have heavy bags!) Friendly helpful staff, especially if you stay in their Club Floor rooms where you seem to be given better attention. Club floor rooms are comfortable and well equipped and internet access is excellent through the combined internet and... more

I did stay at the Sheraton in November 2006. According to the booking information, it was supposed to be a five star hotel, a ranking I strongly have to disagree with. Of course, it is much better than low budget hotels, however, compared to hotels available in Düsseldorf (20 miles away), it does not meet the expectation of a five... more

I have stayed at this hotel during October this year and last year while attending a large trade show. The only real problem was the lack of air conditioning. Maybe my stays were unusual but it was somewhat warm during each trip and the hotel has some kind of automated, water cooled air conditioning system that is turned off in... more

Just returned from Sheraton Essen. I stayed in the Club Floor (6th) and it was all renovated and outstandingly comfortable from the beds to the linnens etc. The view to the park at this level is outstanding since you can see the amazing mature park. Buffet breakfast was first class and until 1100am which is unsual. The reception people was... more

Stayed here during the World Cup. Hotel was actually used by many of the WC teams - the U.S. and Polish teams stayed here. Hotel was immaculate and service was wonderful. Rooms on the club floor were updated and in great shape - including fresh fruit in rooms. Beds and linens were comfortable, with a view out over the park/river... more
