I visited the Ibis in Essen as a 'two day stopover' when driving from Berlin to Eindhoven (NL). I was looking for a simple place to stay, and wanted to visit the Ruhrgebiet's impressive industrial heritage sites (recommended!!). At a very low rate (and knowing all Accor formulas), I didn't have high standards/expectations whatsoever. I know the beds and duvets... more

Stopped at the ibis essen for a week with a friend and was very impressed with the cleanliness and friendly staff. The rooms where cleaned every day and all the staff where cheerful and helpful especially marco who worked at the bar. The rooms where small but comfortable with a shower straight from heaven . Just back from the Ibis Essen, where over 100 of us stayed during a football trip. The hotel is slap bang in the city centre, two minutes from the train station. Rooms are clean but very small, and take care they have very few twins so many ended up sharing queen size beds. The bathroom has a shower only, but... more
