Stayed at the Alster Hof 13/03/08 until 19/03/08.Great location for a start.single room was large enough and always spotless.Hotel generally was first class and the staff very polite and helpful.Breakfast was good with attentive staff always on hand and with the usual awkward American and English guests they can only be praised. more

Stayed here a couple of weeks ago and it was very pleasant. The staff were friendly and the room had all that you need. Missed the breakfast due to the Hofbrauhaus next door which is well worth a visit. Reasonably priced, set right on the lakes and in walking distance of the Rathaus. more

Near station. Nice rooms. Good and varied breakfast. Close to Alster lakes. Very helpful staff. Very reasonable price - £128 double room for 2 nights. Rooms were a bit warm in the night, but easily solved by opening a window. Actually, everybody in Hamburg seemed very polite and friendly. We had a good time there. more
