Five of us stayed here for two nights. Two doubles and one single. the location was great but we were disappointed with the hotel rooms. It said modern hotel , only if we are still in the 70,s. The shower door was broken and the bathroom fittings were a dull brown beige which had many years ago seen their day.... more
Everything about our two night stay in this hotel was very positive. We walked the short distance to the hotel from the Crowne Plaza Hotel where the Lufthansa airport shuttle bus dropped us off. The welcome from the reception staff was warm and helpful. Our standard double room was clean and quite spacious with a very comfortable bed. The decor... more
It's not a bad hotel but I's a bit disappointed when I went into the room. Before that, I expected the hotel is quiet, faces the old bridge and the river, very romantic! But it’s not totally true. It faces not the famous old bridge, but an ordinary bridge with cars going through. River view? yes, but there is a... more
The Neckar was our last hotel on a 20 day trip to Europe. It was the most disappointing in that the mattresses were cheap, the noise level just outside was very high in the early morning and without room-darkening shades the sun blazed in bright and early. What a delightful hotel! The staff were so friendly and helpful. My room overlooked the river which thrilled me. Very comfortable room with a bed, pull-out couch, table and chairs. My only negative was that it did not come with a clock/radio. I thought all hotels had these! I had to turn on the TV to check the time! But... more
I have stayed at the Neckar on several occasions. Yes, it is an older hotel, but it is very clean, safe and comfortable. The location could not be better. Some of the rooms are quite small, but I don't spend a lot of time in my hotel room when I'm vacationing. I usually ask for the double room, with a... more
Not a bad experience.., The Single room was suprisingly small. Had a problem with the main room light not working and it took a few times asking at the desk to get it fixed, never satisfactorily. I never got the room safe to work (it was still set up for the DM). The bathroom is very small and has a... more
Housed in an older building right at the foot of main bridge across the Neckar and right on the Bismarckplatz, the Neckar is very conveniently located to the old town and yet very reasonably priced. The rooms are clean but the furnishings are a couple of decades old. The breakfast service is average for a German hotel. The hotel has... more
The Neckar Hotel is located a long walk or a short bus ride from the train station, but very near the main tourist attractions and restaurants in Heidelberg. We just didn't have much good to say about this hotel. Our room (109) was rundown, had only a single electrical outlet, and there was no air conditioning. It was miserably sweltering... more
