As seasoned travellers (tourists on our annual holiday to Europe), we found the Sofitel, very cold, pretentious and obscenely expensive.Breakfast for 2 was 50 Euros for starters. We did not partake and found very reasonable cafes serving good breakfasts near the Cathedral,a 10 minute walk away. We originally booked a room for 5 nights but found much more perfectly acceptable accomodation... more

The discounted rate is probably a fair one, but the standard of the room and decor is just not worth the rack rate. It was clean and tidy, but small, poorly soundproofed and a bit 80's. Also, remember that the extras like breakfast and overnight parking are more in line with the rack rate, at 25 and 20 euros respectively.... more

Dear Madam, dear Sir, Thank you for taking the time to write your comment after your stay at the Sofitel Strasbourg Grande Ile. I was sorry to read that your overall impression about our hotel was not quite good as you expected, but I would like to draw your attention on some points. We already have the two third of...

Picked this place based on the reviews and this time they lead us wrong. We should have known - looking at it now, the best thing people always said was the location - which is good. The staff was nice - but the hotel itself was just way below average. My wife is big on cleanliness and class - she... more

The hotel is right in the center of old town and not far from the train station. The room was nice, bed very comfortable. The service is responsive. In the first night, we were in a room that smells (the bathroom smells). Immediately next day they changed us into a better room. Breakfast was great. No complains. After 2 weeks... more

In an ideal location thats both quiet and in the heart of Strasbourg. Walkable to most things and a 1 minute walk to Homme de Fer tram stop for activities further afield. Its 5-10 minutes walk from the Cathedral which allowed us to escape the most heavy tourist traffic. The rooms are well-designed, spacious and very comfortable. Ours had a... more

Their bar is filled with fuchsia colored furniture and their lobby is decorated with all shades of earth tones to create a sense of serenity. This hotel is not afraid to use color. Their hall carpet is pinkish/purplish with writings on it and combine with purple/maroon wallpaper certainly won’t put you to sleep walking to your hotel room. My room... more

This is a fantastically located hotel right in the center of Strasbourg, minutes from the Cathedral and at most 20 minutes on foot from every corner of the central island. Beds are great - you just fall in and the next thing you know will be when you wake up tomorrow. Service is competent and helpful - we loved it... more

My partner and I really enjoyed our 3-day stay at the Sofitel. We had a room on the second floor facing the plaza, over the hotel terrace--which might get noisy come summertime, but was not an issue in April. The room was huge--American-sized, with absolutely the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept in--King-sized, plenty of room for two.... more

The Sofitel is a great hotel, located in one of the quietest corners of touristy Strasbourg, yet a stone's throw from all the best sites. The hotel's reception is modern and decorative, staff pleasant and informative. Rooms are good sized with air con / tv / en suite / soundproofing / superb beds. Breakfast is served on the ground floor... more

Stayed at the Sofitel Strasbourg for six nights this past November into early December with my mom for leisure to tour the wine region, take a day trip to Zurich and or course, visit the Christmas markets. The hotel location is excellent, a block from Place Kleber and a very, very short walk to the Cathedral. The staff was helpful... more
