We booked the Black Horse Inn after deciding our usual trip to Derbyshire was too far to travel to just for 2 nights. I have never been to the North Downs so did not know what to expect. I had not realised how quick it was to get there and how lovely the countryside was such a short distance away... more

We stayed for a night in September and were very happy with the hotel. Rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. We ate 3 meals in the pub and the food was tasty, with good quality ingredients. Breakfast was especially good. Both the hotel and the pub welcomed our dog (in the bar only), and we would certainly recommend... more

We stayed for one night in July. We booked a family room and were very disappointed. It was cheaply decorated and shabby. The bathroom was the worst part, it was very shabby and not clean at all, needed a new suite and decorating. The food was very hyped up, our evening meal was just okay but was over £80 for... more

We've just had a couple of days break at this hotel and enjoyed every minute! The accommodation was extremely nice, well appointed and lovely and clean. The staff were what made the stay most enjoyable: the reception team are most welcoming and very helpful as are all the bar and restaurant staff. They were incredibly friendly and made sure we... more

I would definetly recommend this hotel , although not housed within the pub itself the room was lovely . Ideal for our family , with a double and bunks , this room also takes pets . We will be returning with our dogs for a weekend to enjoy the lovely surrounding countryside . The reception was closed when we arrived... more

This place could not be more beautiful. My boyfriend contacted the hotel and stated that he would be proposing to me that evening. I received a warm welcome from the staff, flowers in my 4 poster bed room arranged by the Black Horse on behalf of my boyfriend. Located in the middle of country lanes and fields is a beautiful... more

This could be best summed up as a gastropub with accommodation. You have to eat here to get the full experience. Lovely food, friendly and excellent staff. The bar has local real ales and ciders. The accommodation is a newly built set of chalet type rooms in the grounds which are ideal for the purpose of sleeping/bathing. Naturally, guests are... more

I stayed at the BHI for one night in July, with my partner and our two small children. The hotel is situated behind the pub and comprises a number of modern rooms, separated into two blocks. Each room is named after a flower - we stayed in Bluebell, which appears to be one of two family rooms. The room was... more

We have just returned from Maidstone after visiting the Antiques Roadshow at Leeds Castle. We stayed at the Black Horse for Two nights B&B, we enjoyed the whole experience. The room was clean , light and airy and quiet. The food at night was excellent and served by friendly and attentive staff. We have no problem recommending the Black Horse Inn... more

I travel all over the country on business, preferring to stay in pubs rather than large, impersonal hotels. With the Black Horse I have found an absolute gem. Friendly and helpful when I 'phoned to book, I then received a warm welcome on my arrival. As a lover of real ales, in a traditional pub type atmosphere I was very... more
