Check-in: cheerless. Room: large but to no purpose. Small old-fashioned TV was positioned 6 yards from the pillows so impossible to watch. Room clean but so old-fashioned. Same photos on the walls as in the lobby. Bedclothes are sheets and blankets which seem so insanitary these days when we are used to duvets. The really unpleasant thing about the room... more

We were staying at this hotel over the week end. We attended a function at the hotel on the Sat. night and left our room at about 7.00am and returned at 1.00am. On Sunday we went for breakfast at aprox. 8.30 and returned to our room at 9.15am. in order to pack our suitcase and check out. It was then... more

Having not visited the Old Swan for 40 years I was really looking forward to staying. We booked an executive room at £156.00. (No. 392)The room although spacious was dark, dismal and unbearably hot even though we opened the window as far as it would go and the radiator was cold. (The second night we requested a fan.) The bathroom... more

My husband and I stayed at the Old Swan in Harrogate and loved it. There was an olde world feel to the hotel, and we were both felt like we were in an Agatha Christie book. The rooms are nice and big, and the breakfast is good as well. We love Harrogate and would go back to this hotel again.... more

Clearly we forgot our rationing books. Not only were the baked beans counted (10 each), but soap and shower gel rationed. Energy saving wattage so low- we couldn't even read. 2 room 3 nights DBB for 3 people cost well over 1,000 pounds. We travel all over Europe - worst service- worst food- worst value for money we ahve ever... more

BEWARE THIEVES ABOUT!!! I recently spent a weekend at The Old Swan Hotel along with friends. Upon attending breakfast, we locked our hotel room locked, keeping the key in our possession. We returned to our room within 45 minutes, the door was still locked, however, house keeping had attended and cleaned the room. We immediately found that £150 had been... more

We stayed here on a sat and sun night for a wedding. The first thing to say is that the wedding was fantastic and this place is an excellent venue for such an occasion. HOWEVER, Rooms: Dated .... windows that do not shut .... floors that creak ..... small beds ...... toilets that do not flush! Breakfast: Was the worst... more

We stayed one Saturday night, booked the day before via Hotels.com. Immediate impression is of a large stylish hotel in extensive grounds, about 100m from Pumproom Museum and the municipal gardens. Plenty of (free) parking space. Inside, the hotel retains its period charm. A wedding was planned for that day and the garden room was attractively set out for the... more

It was all going well until we ordered 2 sets of "ROASTED VEGETABLES" at dinner - expecting maybe chargrilled aubergines, peppers, maybe potatoes. We ordered 2 portions and 1 portion of "french fried Potatoes". We got a saucer each with what looked like a spoonful of Asda packet diced vegetales that had been microwaved. No sign of roasting - taseless... more
