One of our desires in Ireland was to stay at a castle/manor. This more then fit the bill. The cost compared to others was almost half the price while I loved the place. Our room was huge, high ceilings, and had the old style look to the furniture, while also keeping a modern bathroom. The layout of the spot was... more

To quote my cheeky Irish friend and travel partner, "the road out of it!" I disagree and think the best thing about the place is the family's lovely Irish Wolfhound, Arthur. We had just spent 4 wonderful nights in Killarney and I was looking for an authentic castle experience for our last night on holiday. It was between Ballyseede and... more

We missed the hotel to begin with. The only sign we found was after we passed the hotel as it said “Ballyseede Hotel Previous Left”. From the outside this looked like it was going to be better than Abbeyglen; however this was far from it. We were in the lobby a good 15 minutes before someone waited on us. There... more

On our B&B holiday booked through Authentic Ireland, my wife and I were given the option to upgrade for a castle stay. We chose Ballyseede Castle mainly for its location, and it is hard to imagine that we could have made a better choice. As mentioned earlier, it is more of an estate house than a castle, but the large... more

My husband really wanted us (family of 5, 3 children) to stay in a castle at least one night on our trip to Ireland so Ballyseede worked the best in our itinerary. While Ballyseede really is a castle, it looks more like a large, old hotel. Our room was at the top of 3 flights of stairs and there did... more

First off, Ballyseede is not a castle and never was one. It is an old manor that is advertised as a castle, so if you are looking for a true Irish castle experience you will not it at Ballyseede. We arrived at Ballyseede mid-afternoon and rang the service bell, as there was no one at the desk. After a few... more

The Ballyseede Castle provided us with one of our favorite memories from a recent visit to Ireland. We really enjoyed the room and the breakfast (and chose to drive in to Tralee for the dinner...ask for directions to Finnigan's Downstairs restaurant next to the Ashe Town House for an amazing meal!), and the overall atmosphere was just wonderful. There is... more

The Ballyseede is absolutely a lovely place to stay. The downstairs bar is AMAZING and quite comforting. We enjoyed a quite relaxing afternoon there, looking at on the beautiful countryside, drinking whiskey and ginger ale and relaxing. It was an excellent start to our Ireland adventure and is highly recommended! more

My wife and I spent a night here on our whirlwind tour of the south and west of Ireland. The castle is charming and the grounds are beautiful. Our room was spotless and well-appointed and the bathroom was recently redone. Pay as you go internet access allowed us to check in on things back home as well. Outside, the vines... more

My daughter and I were traveling through southern Ireland, and Ballyseede was one of our stays. We loved it! We were greeted by Arthur the Irish wolfhound, who stands waist-high. Our room was beatiful with comfy beds. Heated towel bar in the bathroom! Only drawbacks, lighting wasn't adequate for reading and the TV was tiny. We ate in the restaurant... more
