After staying at charming, comfortable hotels in Dingle and Portmagee, the Castlerosse Hotel was a huge disappointment. We had hope to stay at another hotel, but, because it was a holiday weekend, we had to stay at the Castlerosse. Absolutely no charm, atmosphere or character. Motel-like rooms, dark and depressing (low wattage bulbs in lamps), except for the view of... more

My family spent a week at the Castlerosse in a self-catering cottage in August, and it was wonderful - one of our happiest of many vacation memories! Each bedroom sleeps 3, so it worked very nicely for our group - 2 parents, 2 children, and grandmother. When a cousin joined us at the last minute, the hotel was very accomodating... more

Just returned from a 3 day stay at the Castlerosse Hotel in Killarney with my partner and two children, I knew we were in trouble before we arrived when the hotel did not reply to any of my emails sent to confirm our arrival. When we did arrive we found the reception staff to be rude, impatient and unhelpfull, I... more

Just returned from a week at the Castlerosse Hotel in Killarney. We stayed in one of their woodland cottages as we have two small children. Found the location and accommodation perfect. We arrived on a Saturday and on the Sunday my small baby had developed a fever, the staff on reception were exceptional, I had a doctors appointment on the... more

I stayed in one of the self catering cottages for a wedding a number of years ago, so my review may no longer be relevant, but here goes. The cottage was probably dirtier than any house I rented at university and that's saying something! The ensuite room stank of mould and damp, I had to clean the room myself on... more

Although slightly worried about the negative reviews on Tripadvisor we went ahead with our booking - mainly due to the activities on offer at this hotel. On arrival I loved the location and our room was at the back of the hotel facing the golf course with views to the lake & mountains beyond. We were never bothered by noise... more

I stayed in the cottages for a weekend away in May. On arrival at the hotel we were showed to our self catering cottage on the grounds of the hotel by the very kind girl at reception. We were very happy with the accommodation - 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen. We had breakfast and dinner in... more

Myself, wife and one year old stayed for a weekend. The hotel location is wonderful with great views of the lakes and mountains. The room was just OK, a bit functional. My real complaint is the food. Breakfast is simply awful. It's obvious the hotel uses cheap ingredients. Breakfast is a buffet with a poor selection of fried food including... more

Stay in the Castlerosse hotel annually for a recurring family function, and I dread this experience every year. It is a drab, depressing, dirty and old fashioned building, the rooms are damp and musty, and I could hear the family in the room next door arguing as only a thin door seperated us. The food is revolting, standard hotel muck,... more
