the staff were most unhelpful and ignogrant. the rates were very expensive for a three star hotel. unfortunely other hotels in the area were booked out, which are four/five star with cheaper rates. a very amateur set up. more akin to a bad B&B. advise anyone not to stay here. more

We stayed at this hotel on June 28th, 2008. It was our outbound hotel of our Cosmos Tour. Bus stops are located across the street. You can walk down to convience store 15 minutes away that has a produce stand located next to it. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed our Pizza of Ham with Pineapples acompanied by French... more

I stayed for three nights during a conference in nearby (3-5 minutes walking distance) University College Dublin (UCD). The staff were efficient, very friendly and refreshingly for Ireland mostly Irish. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice. THe room was clean and confrotable. Overall an excellent experience but it is not suitable for someone wishing a city centre location unless... more

I stayed in this hotel as I was attending a family funeral nearby. The first night was ok, room was not very modern. The staff in the bar downstairs were not very friendly and as an irishman working as a barman in an irish pub in germany found that they could not even pour a proper pint of Guinness. The... more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights recently due to a conference that he was attending at University College. The hotel seems to derive most of its business from its location next to the university. While we were there there were lots of visiting sports teams in the lobby and quite a few business people. The lobby, restaurant... more

Stayed here for three nights over a Six Nations rugby weekend. Now I know why this was one of the few hotels still available when I booked a few weeks before. We ended up moving rooms FIVE times. The first stank of smoke so badly couldn't breathe (never got asked if we wanted smoking/non-smoking), the second 402 was so noisy... more

The lobby is nice and the restaurant is not bad (though a bit overpriced for the hotel class.) The beds are very uncomfortable and be aware it is 15 minutes (and 15 euros) taxi away from the center of town. more

The Montrose is a nice hotel inside. The breakfast is very good, with cooked breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans etc), yoghurts and fruit, pastries etc and staff bring over toast and your tea and coffee. The lobby is well decorated with chandeliers etc and the rooms are adequate (although ours was very hot even though we turned the heating... more

Main bar and reception area looks good, although bar prices are slightly high. Accommodation of a reasonable standard for a 3 star hotel. Free car parking which is a bonus in a city location. Worth using as a base for travelling around south of dublin and convenient to University College Dublin on main N11 road. more
