We were very surprised by the incredibly cheap rates on offer at the hotel when contacted. This was the main attraction of the hotel, but do not be enticed by price. Upon check in, the reception staff told me that the room would not be available until 3 pm, even though I had been told that the family room was... more

I stayed at this hotel recently for September weekend with my family. I was in a single room, which granted wasnt full of space but it was suficient enough for one person. I was on the 3rd floor which was a smoking room & that suited me as i am a smoker. The reception staff where very nice & friendly... more

We have stayed here for the upteenth time now and once again everything is FIRST CLASS. We especially LOVE the breakfast with its many many hot choices AND an EVEN BIGGER selection of cold meats, chese, fruit, pastries, cereals etc..the list is endless. Ash restaurant still offering amazing quality lunch and dinner menus and I hear they are offering over 55's a special dinner... more

Check-in was OK went to room and found it to be smelly very dirty, the walls looked like they had not been cleaned since victorian times. Our family room was the disabled room... The reason for this was we booked late apparently, they had also told us on the phone they had no rooms but we booked online, shouldn't have... more

The cleaning and maintenance aspect of our rooms have been getting the top markings of an average of 8/10 in other independent review sites like Expedia,Active Hotels etc. We would also like to clarify that we have rooms which are disabled firendly, but apart from some special features these are similar to the normal rooms. We have noted the comment about...

We stayed here for a weekend recently, 26th-28th July. The hotel was really not too bad. The room was large and comfortable if a little tired. The bathroom was also very spacious and clean but the sink taps moved around and the grout around the bath was black. The menu for dinner in the restaurant looked quite nice but after... more

While we appreciate the comment about the breakfast, however, we are known for our vast buffet breakfast which offers more than 12 cold items, a variety of breads and home bakes and more than 12 hot items including Scottish specialities like Haggis etc -- no extra charges are made and these are a part of the romm rates. IWe shall...

This was probably one of the more expensive hotels we stayed in and was pretty much value for money. It is an old hotel but well looked after and maintained. The rooms were of a good size and the bathrooms very roomy with baths. Not much of a view from our 2 rooms but you could see sky and hills... more

If I were passing by this hotel I would not be tempted to enquire re.accommodation. Looks rather shabby. However the inside is welcoming and has a certain charm about it.Nice seating arrangement with a coffee bar but a little too close to the comings and goings of the hotel particularly as it is virtually on the railway station.Having said that, its location... more

Stayed there for 1 night in June 08. Location is fantastic...right in the middle of town with easy access to everything. The lobby and check in was great; however, the room itself was the worst we had in our recent tour of Scotland. Small, shabby, peeling paint, lumpy/soft mattress, lights not working, etc. Very disappointed at first view. Having said... more

I booked this hotel at the last minute and on arrival was pleasantly surprised (although given the tariff i wasn't expecting a terrible hotel). However, the first problem to note is the issue of car parking. The hotel would seem to have to none and so you have to park about a 5 minute walk away in a multi-story car... more

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend break and chose the location for convenience as it is very central to the main city shopping area. Generally our experience was a positive one though we found it very noisy on Saturday and Sunday night. We complained to reception and they did apologise but this would put us off going... more
