Overall, it is not bad. Room size is big, good location, booked friday night at £89 with breakfast and Saturday night at £109 with no breakfast due to full occupancy on Saturday. Room is quite dusty, pool not very clean though. If you are not an overly-fussy person, this hotel should be fine. more

Stayed in Edinburgh on business. The hotel was clean and tidy. Room was good size and had a range of facilities. The pool and sauna were small. Gym was fine as it was empty. The cost was , in my opinion, expensive for this standard of hotel although the location was very good in relation to the castle etc. Wouldn't... more

My partner booked this hotel last minute for an over night stay in Edinburgh. We have both stayed in Edinburgh several times and this hotel was by far the worst. My over all impression of the hotel was that it was not worth the money. The hotel is relatively near the Royal Mile (around a 10-15 minute walk) and around... more

Just returned after spending 4 days at the Novotel. Not our usual hotel to stay at but gave it a try. Check-in was easy and our room was ready by 11am, although they have a free luggage room if your room is not ready. Room was fine with tea/coffee facilities, mini bar, safe, tv, internet access if required. Room was... more

I stay in Edinburgh regularly on business and stay here often. It's a plain, fairly basic hotel - but it does what it says on the tin. The staff are friendly and helpful and for a hotel of this type the restaurant is great - good menu, well prepared and presented. more

Stayed here for 3 nights on a short break to Edinburgh. The room was big, as was the bathroom and both were clean to a high standard. The staff were friendly and helpful as I called them several times to book taxis and these all arrived as requested. The car parking issue lets this place down though. There is parking... more

We stayed at the Novotel for 2 nights last week. I was very impressed with the hotel & the rooms were clean but could of been cleaner for a 4 star hotel. There was a few marks on the walls & mould in the shower cubicle which wasn't a problem - just that it could easily have been cleaned away.... more

I visit Edinburgh a lot for work. On this occasion, all my preferred hotels were busy. The Novotel wasn't a bad alternative. It's very close to the railway station and to the Royal Mile (High Street). The road itself is unprepossessing, but seems safe enough. All the staff were very helpful, and the room was ready even though I checked... more

I like the Novotels in Europe better than in Canada. Very spacious and clean rooms. Neat Ikea like furniture. Immaculate washrooms with funky sink/taps. Very quiet room. The best part: My view! of what? Edinburgh Castle!!! The hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the Castle which is the starting point of any Edinburgh adventures. Hotel's breakfast was buffett... more

After looking around on many of the usual holiday booking sites, the cheapest deal I could find was from the Novotel website. That was for the deal that included breakfast; most of the other sites only had deals that excluded breakfast (£12 extra if you wanted it). Room was slightly bigger than normal for this standard, including sofa. TV reception... more
