My son and I shared a twin room (him 37 me 60) we only stayed 1 night as we had a hospital appointment and had driven all day so we were very tired , we rang and booked 2 rooms and we were quoted £55 per night however when we got there they denied this and offered us a twin... more

The hotel is located very close to the castle and other sites in Edinburgh so a plus for location but it is not a 3 star hotel. The bar, restaurant and front desk areas are very nice but not indicative of the guest room areas. On the first guest floor there are numerous areas where duct tape is used to... more

Just spent one night at the Point Hotel. I had a gift voucher which I exchanged for a stay at the Hotel based on their website. After I booked i did read some reviews and have to agree with a lot of comments. Our room was "superior" and did have a great view of the castle. However the room and... more

The hotel is very luxurious but the restaurant is cheaper and affordable for an ordinary tourist. It's located in a great, a little impersonale, room. All dishses tasted superbly and were served in a very good way. The staff was extremely kind and quick. Starter, second plate and coffee for nearly 23 pound. Recommended. more

Our room was booked by our travel partners who were assured by what they saw on the hotel website, of a quality hotel. This was not the case. There were deep cleaning issues with the room: spots on the drapes, a kleenex (not ours) left between the beds. The bathroom was awful. Cracked plaster, mold (or was looked like mold)... more

We stayed for nights at The Point in late October 2007. Our room was clean and spacious with lounge area that could be seperated from the rest of the room with a large sliding panel. Our view of Edinburgh Castle was fabulous. The window spanned the width of the room and directly faced the beautiful castle which looked even more... more

We were struggling to find a reasonably priced hotel for a one night stay for the Edinburgh Fringe in August. Happened upon the Mercure on internet & price was really competitive compared to others. Hotel is short walk from Waverley Station and ideally located for Grassmarket & Royal Mile. Room was really spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast good and all staff... more

I was disappointed to find that on a quiet Thursday our room was not immediately ready at the designated check in time of 2pm. However after a brief wait we were given a key to our room, 1..something on the 1st floor. After over hearing the receptionists chatter behind the desk we had originally been allocated 6...something making me think... more
