Supposed to be a family friendly hotel.. 1 double bed and a sofa bed with a 2inch thick mattress... which was useless, kept falling into the middle of the sofabed so not easy to sleep in it at all. Nothing for kids to do except swimming. No shower gel / shampoo / toilet roll/ biscuits for tea/coffee...provided in the room.... more

Stayed here for two weeks on business with colleagues from Ireland and the UK. After we were served chicken that was still blood red inside and cold Steak and Kidney pies we never ate there again. Fusty smelling Verve lounge area and sticky unclean tables were a huge dissapointment. My shower was unclean and had a brown film all over... more

I'm naming the review benefit of the doubt as I very nearly gave the hotel 3 out of 5. The Hotel offers very good facilities, including a leisure complex, pub (with bar food) and a restaurant. We found check-in to be quick and friendly and the reception area had a nice buzz about it. Also, for a city hotel it... more

The Village is part of the Village hotel chain, in which I stayed several times. I found out it is really all standardized: you will not notice the difference when being in either Cardiff, Birmingham or where-ever. So on the plus side, you know what to expect. On the min side: it is not really personalized. Rooms are ok, not... more

A friend and I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Village hotel in Cardiff. First impression was very good. Nice big car park with disabled bays close to the Reception area. Check in was quick and easy and staff very friendly. On arrival at our room (twin) we were unexpectedly disappointed. Although it was quite large... more

Stayed here on a Saturday night - somewhat of a mistake. The rooms have bad soundproofing and the television from next door was clearly audible. Worse, however, was the pounding disco from the wedding, which went on until gone 1am. The receptionist said he would try to get it turned down, but in fact the volume level rose. Won't be... more

Firstly the preferential rates I was apparently getting from the hotel turned out to be £10/day more than if I booked via the web. The hotel advised this is because I booked via the website which operates independently of the hotel. I didn't understand that rationale either. It's their hotel, their website ... don't they have control. The booking service... more

At times i found the rooms needed a good clean. The are 3 places to eat here, restuarant, pub and cafe. The breakfast is very a good start to the... more

I was booked into this hotel by my Company for just one night's stay whilst on a business trip. I have stayed at other Village hotels and expected this one to be the same. The reception staff were friendly enough. The room was small but i thougt no problem - it just for on night for one person. I noticed... more

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting friends in Cardiff. On checking into our room, we noticed the room smelt a bit odd but didnt think much of it and just opened the window. The bathroom was FILTHY, it had body hair and toenail clippings all over the floor and bottom of the bath, there were also dirty footprints... more
