what a hotel! if you go to the 17th century-town stratford upon avon and you search for an old-style hotel right in the centre, then the Shakespeare hotel is the best choice. Mercure 4* says it all, large rooms with a high standard. the hotel fits perfectly in the city-style. GREAT breakfast, nice restaurant and bar, very friendly and helpful... more

Booked end December 2007 on hotel website Accor for 16 Feb - the nearest Saturday to Valentines Day and a Theatre visit booked very special day. Got a really good deal - but was this our downfall? Had confirmation and booking number by email but decided to phone a couple of weeks later to confirm as the deal was we... more

We spent two nights at this very charming Hotel. The double room itself was small but quaintly furnished however, the bathroom was large and plain. The toiletries were of a good standard. My son who was staying in a room the other side of the corridor had a much larger room and bathroom both of which were furnished in a... more

We have recently visited Stratford for a performance at the RSC and spent one night at the Mercure Shakespeare. I found a web offer via Superbreaks for bed and breakfast at a very good rate of £70 for a standard double. The hotel reception areas were warm and welcoming on a chilly January afternoon, with huge log fires in the... more

Booked this hotel at the last minute using laterooms.com which as other tripadvisor reviewers had mentioned gave us a great deal including dinner bed and breakfast. Hotel is a beautiful olde-worlde building in a central location for all amenities in Stratford on Avon. Car park (small) is on Sheep Street next to the Vintner bistro - a £5 charge is... more

My partner and I stayed here for one night on a visit to Stratford Upon Avon. We had booked a few weeks earlier on laterooms.com and paid the excellent price of £45 for room only (the tariff on reception was showing £160 for a standard double!) Our room was lovely- it was in the main building and had a huge,... more

This is a lovely hotel, full of atmosphere due to it's original features. The rooms are not huge however are nicely decorated and are very comfortable, we had a large bathroom. We didn't eat in the restaurant and at £12 each for breakfast decided to go elsewhere however we did have a drink in the bar and this was lovely... more

If you are looking for the perfect position to explore Stratford for the weekend then this is your hotel. It is right in the centre amongst all the sights, very close to Shakespeare's houses and a wide choice of excellent restarants. It's a traditonal hotel with roaring log-fires (in October) and really warm cosy public rooms. We stayed in the... more

Like many other TripAdvisor's, my Husband and our friends were a little bit weary of the hotel after reading some of the reviews. We have just come back from a two night stay at The Shakespeare. We booked the £90 per room, per night including breakfast on the Hotel's website, under their Internet rate. I would recommend looking at the... more

The hotel just about lives up to its 4-star billing. Our room was a decent size, particularly for a city-centre hotel and the amenities were as you'd expect, with a good bath/shower and decent toiletries. Front desk staff were quietly efficient. Breakfasts are cooked to order and the selection is good, including 2 fish options (smoked haddock or Scottish kippers).... more
