The Alveston Manor building (old part- reception etc) is very impressive and the grounds are beautiful. The standard rooms in the new wing are slightly indentikit but in my opinion far superior to many "conference/wedding" type hotels of this category, very well appointed and comfortable. The service was also excellent- overall this hotel represents excellent value in its category and... more

Good: Comfortable old room, friendly staff, helpful staff, excellent gym & pool, nice breakfast, good location in the town. Bad: Wireless signal in room inadequate, had to go to bar for emails, Bar staff's English was so bad they got all drinks orders wrong; poor air conditioning in gym. Double room not big enough for 2 people (in old part... more

Have stayed here twice, once in the old part of the building and once in the new. The room in the old building was spacious and had character; the room in the new block was modern but we could have been in any hotel chain in any town or city. It was uninspiring and lacked atmosphere. The staff are attentive... more

Just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. It is from the front a great looking characterful hotel. However, this is misleading. Once you are inside and allocated a room in the "new building" which are all Classic Zip rooms - ie king size bed with no character, this is where you feel let down. The hotel only... more

We stayed at the the Alveston Manor for one night during Shakespeares Birthday weekend. I heard the concierge tell someone that they were packed, but we didn't have to wait to check in or out and the place did not feel too busy. We had trouble with our room 'key' and had to get help. We were told that the... more

We stayed at this hotel for one night and had a great time! Our room was spacious and had good facilities. The old part of the hotel was gorgeous with lots of original features. The staff were helpful. The food at dinner and breakfast was great with plenty of choice! My Dad was really impressed with the breakfast and it... more

A great location for easy walking to town centre. Superb breakfasts and evening meals (scalops and bream are a must!). Service in the bar was extremely slow (20 mins for a drink) and we also had to wait 30 mins for desert at end of meal. Had to request a room change due to un-hoovered carpet on arrival. New room... more

Stratford upon Avon is a lovely place to visit for a weekend with the obvious connections to Shakespeare and the tourist hotspots it also has pleasant walks by the river. The Alveston is perfectly situated within a 5 min walk from the city center. Timbered framed with immaculate grounds the first impressions of the Hotel lead to high expectations and... more

Room was small and cramped. There wasn't room to walk round the bed because of the TV on top of the minibar. The door of the mini-bar didn't open because it would hit the bed so you couldn't get drinks / biscuits out. Room would be much nicer to replace all that with a flatscreen on the wall. Limited TV... more

Excellent hotel for a very relaxing and chilled Christmas break. We had a room in the modern wing of the hotel which was clean and well equipped. Also made use of the hotel pool and sauna on Boxing Day! Couldn't fault the service or the meals and would certainly recomend this hotel. more
