The location and room were both spectacular - our family suite was stylish and had grandeur without being intimidating, and had views across the car park to the gates and cathedral opposite. For the price, though, service and attention to detail were lacking. I feel it would be nice to show guests to their rooms, rather than pointing out a... more

Stayed at the Angel for two nights in Aug 08. Cost £130 per night (standard twin room). Here’s what I think you need to know… Location: Superb. You are right in the centre of this small town. Shops, restaurants, theatre, sites and gardens all within walking distance. Check in and reception: quick and efficient. Friendly helpful staff. Lobby and lounge... more

My husband and I stayed at the Angel Hotel for one night and had a terrific experience. We booked a standard room but upon arrival we were given a suite which was an added bonus. The room was lovely, very clean and had central A/C. A perfect mix of old and new! The front desk staff were friendly and the... more

I stayed at The Angel during a weeklong business trip to the UK. As you can see from the visitor photos others have posted, there are two distinct styles of rooms available. Not knowing this ahead of time, I was put in one of older rooms in the hotel. Not a single thing had been updated in this room for... more

From the moment we arrived I was impressed with the hotel, especially the staff. Our car was parked for us, check in was quick and friendly and the porter who showed us to the room gave us lots of information on what to do and see in the area. Our room was bright and comefortable(with french doors that leaded on... more

I was on a course through work and this had been booked on my behlaf for £91 a night. Its quite a charming building. The big pluses were the staff who were most helpful, especially the Night Porter, and the breakfasts which were really good. The drawback was the room - it was a little bit dated compared to the... more

From the moment we arrived, the car was taken care of, the hotel was extremly busy and the car park was busy, but the porter parked our car with no stress to us. Checkin was quick and shown to our room. Our room was lovely and clean with Nina Campbell toiletries, what a treat!! All the staff we polite friendly... more

Just returned form a stay of two nights at this allegedly 4 star hotel. The toilet in the room took all its time to administer the slightest amount of water for a flush. Reception were informed and promised to send a porter to investigate. On return to the room, no change! When summoned again after a trial flush the explanation... more

I had to stay here for a couple of nights while on a business trip to the area. I was in one of the rooms on the top floor of the old part of the hotel and after having seen the reception area and bar/restaurant on my way in which looks stylist and modern I was slightly disappointed with my... more

I stayed here for one Saturday night in April with my sister. We had chosen to stay here as a group of us were meeting for dinner in the hotel. I was really impressed. I used to live in Bury and so had been into the hotel a few times, but probably not since about 2002. It has since been... more
