Like other reviewers I was staying in Sheffield to attend a concert at the Carling Academy. The hotel is a stone's throw away from the venue (just across the road). Fantastic location. I used to live in Sheffield so found the Cutlers with no problem. I guess if you weren't familiar with the city you may find its location a... more

I stayed at the Best Western Cutlers hotel in Sheffield, England for 2 nights June 30 and July 1 2008. While withing walking distance of the train station, it's a little out of the way and I had to ask a few times for the location on George Street, a small alley like street in the center of Sheffield. The... more

I was going to see Milburn at the Carling Academy so I wanted an hotel with a central location. The Cutlers turned out to be a great choice as it was literally over the road from the Academy. We travelled by bus and the bus station is behind the academy, so only 5 minutes from the hotel. There is a... more

Well…..the room was a bit small, well cleaned, well stocked with loads of tea and biscuits etc. Breakfast was reasonable. Staff seemed professional and check in was efficient. They have a new TV digital system which can be a bit iffy. Select a channel and nothing happens, select again and it jumps 2 channels! Rooms on lower floor and near... more

I booked a single room for a one night stay in January purely based on the cheap price. I didn't expect much but I was pleasantly surprised! I didn;t check in until after 10pm and the staff were great. Very heplful and friendly. They even brought me a drink up to my room. The room was small and strangely arranged... more

We were seduced by the web site -- it looks a classy place, but the truth is different. The rooms are cramped and airless, the cleaning is patchy and the public areas are shabby. The hotel is no better than a Travelodge, but charges much more. The only thing going for it is the location, but there is no free... more

Having stayed at a number of Sheffield hotels for business, I now use the Culters. Yes the public areas are a bit tired. However the majority of bedrooms have recently been refurbished, with comfortable beds and free broadband access (something other hotels charge £10+ for). The staff are always very friendly and helpful, without being over bearing. Breakfast is usually... more

As I think other reviews have said, Cutlers Hotel seems to fall somewhere between being a pretty nice hotel and a not very good one. The location is great - right in the city centre, perfect for theatres/sightseeing. My room was fine, although a bit cramped - the furniture didn't quite seem to fit - and rather noisy (building work... more

I stayed at this hotel last year in May and have to say that it has changed greatly since then, the staff were friendly even back then, but the decor was a little on the tired side, but since the recent refurbishment, i found it pleasant and comfortable. its nowhere near finished yet, but the corridors no longer have wallpaper... more
