I stay in quite a few hotels in my business travels, and so often they end up being pretentious or 'corporate' bland. Bestwood Lodge is neither of these things. It is very good value, and has masses of character - the main hall where the bar is has a balcony running round it. It would make a great murder mystery... more

What a great friendly place to stay. The rooms were comfortable and quiet large. What impressed us was the service from the staff. It is something that l have not experienced before. Hannah & Wendy both went out of their way to help us organise accomadation in the Lakes District for the weekend, providing us with history of the hotel... more

I stayed here for one night and thank goodness it was only one night. This hotel is a throwback to a bygone era (and not in a nice way) It is just terribly dated-like an old care home and needs a deep clean and revamp! Everything about it is 20 yrs out of date from the strange, tinned, stodgy menu-with... more

Stayed here for the night of my sisters wedding although the wedding was not actually at the hotel. It was pleasant enough and the breakfast was okay. I will say though that it needs updating. The architecture and grounds are majestic with a good country house feel. I think if you were expecting something very special then you would be... more

Never again!! . I have stayed at this hotel twice but never again! Each time I have found it a struggle to eat in the restaurant. The 1st time I rang ahead and told them I would be arriving by 8.30pm and asked if I could still get a table? The receptionist told me this would not be a problem,... more

I stayed here 3 nights in order to attend a family wedding that was being held at the hotel. On arrival the building is large and almost impressive, hinting that a bit better upkeep is required. We checked in, had a drink at the bar - nice environment - and went to bed as it was late. I had read... more

The hotel is part of Best Western - which means it is privately owned and operated. The location within the park is fantastic. The bar is great and gives you a real sense of the original victorian hunting lodge. The food is ok from the restaurant if you can't be bothered to go into Nottingham City Centre. Breakfast was great.... more

Never again. My husband and I spent 1 night in this hotel as my friend used this hotel for her wedding party and to avoid paying large cab fares we opted to stay overnight. Bed and Breakfast @ £90 per night. Thank goodness we were not booked for any longer. Whilst the hotel sits in very nice woodland and has... more

I chose this hotel from reading reviews on Trip Advisor which were mixed but seemed to rate quite well. However we found the hotel was a real let-down. On a positive note it looked good from the outside like a country manor style of hotel but appearances can be deceptive. The room decor was from the 1970s with an avocado-coloured... more
