This guesthouse was great - and it's just as its website shows. We stayed in room 7 on a weekend break in York (which is wonderful), and it was lovely, and even lovelier when you stop to notice the little details, like the antique furniture, the complimentary sherry (yes, I had a drop or two!), and Portmeirion Pottery (made in... more

Stayed for two nights in room 5 (Pics of rooms on their website). Very nice room on the second floor at the front of the property, very clean with bright modern bathroom. Good hospitality tray, also a small decanter of sherry. Large LCD TV and DVD player ( there is a selection of DVD's in reception). Barbican house has its... more

My husband and I ran across this B&B purely by luck. We were on the last leg of a month long trip to Europe and wanted a place close to the city center. This was the best suprise we could have asked for!! The couple who run the place are very friendly and helpful. They had suggestions for dinner and... more

My partner and I stayed here for a few days in June, we stayed in the 'annex room 8' which was fabulous, across the road from the main house with it's seperate dressing room, we would recommend staying here to anyone. The breakfasts really started the day off, the fresh fruit platter is a must, finished off with a full... more

We stayed at the Barbican last weekend and I have to say that we must have been the guests from hell and can only apologise. My husband was taken ill with a "hypo" and the ambulance crew had to be called, not the way I wanted to spend the weekend but then you can never plan anything! Adrain and Ann... more

After spending a great deal of time looking at Yorkshire, my daughter and I finally decided to stay in York and use it as a base to visit much of the surrounding countryside. My daughter (who is studying in France) and I decided to meet up in London and take the train to York. Needless to say I was tired... more
