I cannot understand the person who was angry not to be able to book a single night only. This is a superb hotel, where you feel part of a house-party enjoying great food and wine. This is not the hotel to book if you intend to use it just as a bedroom! The sense of occasion is enhanced by the... more

Having read all the reviews, i tried to book a room for 1 night on the 13 th sept ( saturday night ). I was told the hotel wouldnt accept a 1 night booking as it meant that the hotel would then struggle to sell the room for friday night ( the 12 th ). The only way they would... more

Enjoyed a 4 night stay here in July, based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. The location is relaxing and beautiful with a variety of mature trees. The rooms are well balanced with the modern bathrooms and TV fitting well into architecture that is 150 years old. The food is excellent, we ate in on 2 nights and the food... more

My wife and I recently stayed two nights at this boutique property at the edge of Norwich. The property is nicely sited with well cared for mature gardens. The main building is elegant, the epitome of relaxation, and very charming, not to forget the staff who are each super. Chris is an excellent host and provides a high level of... more

This wonderful building and its owners and staff really make you feel welcome. We stayed 2 nights and had a spacious and very comfortable room with a large bathroom. Common areas are inviting and well maintained and the food was a very nice surprise. We had dinner there both nights and the service, menu and food was excellent both times.... more

An excellent hotel with highest of standards throughout. Bright and spotlessly clean with friendly and attentive proprietor and staff. Cosy and relaxing atmosphere. Comfortable room with very good facilities. Food first class, the chef is to be congratulated! Very good wines at reasonable prices. Convenient bus stop outside hotel gate for a short ride into the town centre. On our... more

We travel from Canada to the UK at least twice a year. We always ensure that we have a booking at The Old Rectory. It is small, it is is everything one wants when away from home. Chris greets us and helps us with luggage (and we do not travel lightly) there is a welcoming cup of tea in the... more

We have stayed at the Old Rectory for over 10 years & try to stay @ least once a year - don't get me wrong I usually subscribe to the "don't go back" philosophy, but this really is a little gem. I have have stayed at too many "indifferent" hotels in my life but you could never label the Old... more

We only stayed one night, but I would recommend this hotel if only on the quality of the food. We had both Dinner and Breakfast and both were delicious - a testament to the cook and the quality ingredients - often locally sourced. "The Rectory" breakfast was especially tasty. Great hosts and a good location close to the centre of... more

Booked this hotel based on the reviews on this site and have to say that I was not overly impressed. The location was good, not far from Norwich city centre. I know I should have expected the room to be dated considering the age of the property but it was just a bit too dated for my liking. The bathroom... more
