I stayed there for business and was given an upgraded room. It was not cheap - about $400US a night. It was decorated very nice. But...my room was hot. I just had a tiny window and it was storming outside, the air conditioner was loud and ineffective, so it was a tad uncomfortable. Pillows were not comfortable - kind of... more

I stopped at the Cannizaro with some friends over the weekend, we were down to watch the England v Ireland rugby game, and had heard good reviews of the hotel. The hotel has in its day been a fine country house with fabulous gardens and views across the common. My opinion is that it is seriously in need of some... more

My husband and I had our wedding here in September and we and our guests had a great time. The hotel is beautiful, but not too formal and suited out mixed age groups perfectly. The terrace at the back of the house overlooks wonderful parkland. The meal was simple (our choice), but well cooked, presented and served. The hotel is... more

We stayed at the Cannizaro last week - the first week of December and the whole place was like a hot house! We couldn't turn our radiator down in our room and had to sleep with the window wide open, draughty but at least it cooled the room down (the problem with the radiator was adjusted the next morning). Our... more

We stayed for three nights in early October and really enjoyed our experience at Cannizaro House. The surrounding gardens are lovely and provide a beautiful setting for the hotel. Our room was well appointed and very spacious, really clean and a big comfy bed, and we had a lovely view over the fountain in the front garden. We had arrived... more

Stayed two nights to attend a wedding. Arrived at 3-30 pm and waited one hour for a room to be prepared. Despite having a room rate agreed in writing it was denied that any such rate existed. After some 'discussion' it was admitted that the rate I had was correct but no apology. A broken matress spring led to an... more

Arrived here for a two night stay with baited breath having seen the previous comments but was pleasantly surprised. Asked for an early check in as we had to attend a wedding at the hotel which they arranged for us. The food at the reception was outstanding and the hotel staff were very attentive. However, the room was in need... more

Did not actually stay overnight here but had Dinner and spent time at the bar. The service and quality of our meal were terrible. Wait time for food is long and staff really don't care if you are enjoying yourselves. more

After reading previous reviews, I did not have high expectations for this hotel. Our friends were having their wedding reception at Cannizaro and hence we got a cheaper room rate than normal for our one night stay. The hotel is set in wonderful grounds and looks stunning from the outside, particularly at night when the hotel is lit up. Unfortunately,... more

I last visited the hotel some 18 months ago, and I can really say that it seems to have improved massively under the new ownership. The bar has been re done, and serves some fantastic cocktails, all prepared by the resident mixologists (a new word I learnt whilst I was there!). My girlfriend loved it. The room was nicely decorated... more
