We stayed there during the Tall Ships weekend and due to this, the general clientele may have been better as a lot of rooms had been booked by similar people rather than the stag night/hen party brigade. The Duty Manager Mathew Blyth was very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was good, rooms were clean and comfortable, staff were friendly. Not en-suite... more

We are from France, we thought this hotel was a good deal for England (it is not worth spending much to go to Liverpool, it is not St Tropez) All night long girls are yelling and pucking, nobody threatened them to report them to the police so they didn't stop even with a member of thestaff coming from the Ibis.... more

We were in Liverpool for a concert and family get together and couldn't afford the Aintree Premiere Inn where we normally stay due to 'event prices' during the Open Golf / Tall Ships events. We stayed at the Formule 1 for 3 nights. Having stayed in a Formule 1 before (Paris, 13th October 2007) we knew what to expect -... more

Having never stayed before I was quite wary, but we couldn't get anywhere else due to the Tall ships festival so we booked in here. I had already been warned that they were not en suite, but at £33 per room I found that acceptable. At first I was worried about security, but then I realised that in the event... more

As I read all negative stories it was not as bad as we thought. It's cheap, small (room) and there are no curtains, but if you want a dark room no problem (sun wearing roll is included). First night someone probably was smoking on the corridor as the firealarm was suddenly ringing at 12.30 am. It was unclear to me... more

My dad is rather thrifty, and doesn't like to spend money unnecessarily. I think it's for people like my dad that fine hotel establishments like Hotel Formule 1 were created. For a start, the place is an absolute eyesore of yellow and checkered white and black. Nothing says a good night's sleep like a racing car theme for your hotel.... more

We phoned and made a telephone booking...nobody to answer the phone, only at certain hours. After we booked in , we went out to town for the night. When we arrived back at the hotel we were greeted with a load of drunk and noisy people in hall way. Some walking around in underwear. my girlfriend was so scared , she... more

This hotel served a purpose - that was it. I was travelling to watch a football match and couldn't get a hotel anywhere. I came across this hotel at a very reasonable rate and, not expecting much, I certainly didn't get much ! Reception - non-existent. Checked in at Ibis (next-door) and it was like the Ritz in comparison. Rooms... more

A lovely room, much bigger than a hamster cage, loved the way you had to negotiate walking around the bed and stairs leading to the top bunk bed, only managed to scrape my knee a few times! Some lovely bruises for me to keep as a reminder of my trip. The toilets were incredible, lots of lovely wee everywhere, takeaway... more

Myself and some friends travelled to liverpool for the Grand National recently. Upon checking into the hotel on the Friday evening, we were unfortunately upgraded for free to the Ibis next door due to some problems with our room - most likely a double-booking/murder. Still, some of our friends managed to get a room for the night and whilst we... more
