I recently found myself booked in the Metropole. My reservation was for a 'best available premier room'. On arrival I was unable to check in until 4 because a large coach party had just left and the rooms weren't ready yet. Besides, the computers were 'down' and they were unable to check whether I had pre-paid or needed to pay... more

We booked a weekend stay here for the location of the hotel - IE next to the North Pier where we were going to see a show. - Bad idea!!!! 1st impressions at check in were unprofessional and unhelpful check in staff. Musty smell permeated every corridor and lift. The room was spacious and had a sea view and a... more

This hotel is so bad I left. I booked a spa double room through central reservations. The first room I was given was in the basement, The corridor smelled strongly of stagnant water. There was no view from the window, just a dirty wall pressed against it. The room was small and didn't look clean. No bath spa just a... more

A real shame, we stayed here for 2 nights (Fri & Sat) to take our 3 year old daughter to the Illuminations. We were given a 'family' room which at first looked perfect. However it wasn't until bed time we discovered the problem. The room overlooked the road, a night club and a Karoke bar! The noise finaly stopped at... more

My husband booked 2 nights in a double "premier" room on the internet we got it for £200 instead of £280. When we arrived there were no parking spaces on the car park so we had to block in 2 other cars (we were told to do this by hotel staff!!). The receptionist informed us that there were no double... more

Stayed at the hotel on Friday 15th August through to Sunday 17th August on a bed breakfast and evening meal basis. We paid £180 and had a refurshed room with a spa bath, I could find no complaint regarding the room or the meals, yes I have had better but hey I think its only classed as a two/three star... more

My family just returned from a great time at the Metropole. The ages ranged from 20, 16, 12 and eight. My wife and I found the hotel to be clean and the staff very approachable and freindly. The evening cabaret was excellent and the quality and quantity of the food also very good. Location was ideal and our rooms had... more

All the doom and gloom I've read about this place, so what a pleasant surprise! First of all, when I booked, I requested one of the refurbished, modernised rooms. I guess this is a must. Yes, there is stil work ongoing, but it looked like it was being ramped down rather than up. I booked 2 days before arrival, via... more
