We stayed at the Highfield House for four nights, the dinner, bed, breakfast and dinner option, based solely on the previous reviews on Tripadvisor. This stay was the shining star of our trip to the UK this autumn. We had a gorgeous first floor room with a balcony that we sat on and viewed Derwentwater (lake) directly in front of... more

This Hotel was picked from a lake district list on the internet. We knew nothing about it at all and boy was it good. My wife and I decided to treat our son and his girlfriend after they both graduated. The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms were clean and you would not know anyone else was in... more

As part of a reunion with 2 other longstanding friends and wives, 6 of us were booked into this hotel for the weekend. Initial impression from a distance - was it a boarding house? We could not have been more wrong. It was efficently run with a great staff who were relaxed and helpful. The rooms were spacious enough and extremely... more

Enjoyed a 1 night treat at this hotel in one of the "Feature" rooms, room 4. The room was well equipped and pleasant, with a large double bed created by putting 2 twins together. A typical hospitality tray in the room included lots of UHT milks as well as a full range of drinks and 2 "hand made" (not home... more

Made to feel welcome on first arrival even if it's a bit... more

This is the best hotel we've ever stayed in! The food was superb, I have a severe wheat allergy so it is always with trepedation we eat anywhere but I was overwhelmed not only with the amount of choice I was given, but with the care taken to prepare and serve my food. There was a different menu every night... more

Having stayed at a number of hotels in the Lake District over the years, we found this hotel to be disappointing. The rooms we had booked (5 and 6) were comfortable if a bit on the small side. The evening meals were nicely presented although a few more vegetables would have been appreciated. The bread however was delicious! The breakfasts... more

I stayed at the Highfield with my mother and accomodation was perfect. A ground floor room was suggested and access from the rear car park is easy. Food was fantastic and staff frriendly and obliging. Views from the rooms are stunning and location cannot be bettered for Derwent Water and keswick who needs a car. more
