The central location of the Colonial is great, and my enormous room with balconies and high, high ceilings was fantastic. Wi-fi internet throughout the hotel as part of the deal was good. I loved the old building itself, and found the staff to be helpful in many ways (printing out a document, giving directions etc.) The hotel was also very... more

This was not the most luxurious hotel, but it did have its charms. First of all, it caters to large tourist groups, so the front desk is sometimes overwhelmed with customers, and the lobby is shabby, to say the least. On the bright side, the hotel has a restuarant, which is a godsend on a Sunday, when almost everything else... more

This is a really charming place. We found the staff helpful. the only drag was now and again there were hoards of tour groups but this was always temporary. more

We are not picky when it comes to accommodation (I mean - we stayed at that other hotel in Angangueo!), so when a hotel is this highly recommended and does not live up to the promise... Well, we decided to post this comment. First thing: staff at the front desk are very unfriendly (but not hostile): you cannot get them... more

Great location, pedestrian street very close to Zocalo. Nice room with two balconies and high ceilings. The decorations were very colonial. Nice meals in the restaurant with very professional staff. There is internet access, but no USB port, but lots of internet cafes nearby if you need a USB. The one problem we did have there was when we tried... more

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Colonial from right after Christmas past New Year, during what might be their busiest time. We spent nine nights and in two different rooms. After the first five nights we were able to move into a much nicer (i.e., brighter and updated) room. From our immediate experiences as well as from peeking... more

We arrived in Puebla Easter weekend. The Hotel is very well situated, one block from the Zocalo (the hotels right across the zocalo were exposed to lots of noise). We also were worried about street noise but it really was minimal. The staff were courteous and very helpful. While exploring the Hotel, we found a beautiful room overlooking the front... more

A lovely old hotel, with clean accomadations and open air conditioning--we found it simple, charming, interesting and authentic. We look forward to staying there again and visiting the roof garden with its breath-taking view of the city and the volcanos. more

I have been staying at the Hotel Colonial off and on since 1990, and it only gets better and better. This historical building has been beautifully restored, the rooms are large and comfortable, and the view from the roof top terrace is the best in Puebla: the brightly colored tiled domes of Cathedral against the snow- capped volcanoes, the wedding... more
