I had just return from La Rana Cansada, it looked nice after reading the comments in here, but it was something different when I arrived. Here are some material facts instead of those “Friendly smiling people” type, frequently used. About the property... 1.No architecture, it is a small yard surrounded by rooms, dark and hot with bad ventilation. 2.There is... more

I love to travel to Playa. Off the beach hotels provide less expense, therefore more trips to Playa. I recently stayed at La Rana Cansada and what a pleasant surprise. From the manager Jorge, Thed one of the owner's and especially the great bar staff, this is a part of the Playa experience that makes the stay fun! Friendly courteous... more

This place is completely wonderful. My fiancee and I stayed at La Rana Cansada over Christmas this year (we love Playa dearly) and what better place than La Rana. With a bar to die for, 4 minutes from all the best restaurants & clubs, 3 minutes from the beach - in the centre of town right where you want to... more

Jez was so helpful and friendly. My friend and I came with an open iteniary and Jez was so helpful on suggestions for day trips as well as great places to eat. The room was so cute with the thached roof. It was exactly what i needed, a place to rest and shower. I went to Walmart and bought food... more

as another reviewer said-- it aint the Ritz, but frankly i have stayed at the Ritz and this place beats it hands down for service and smiles. The Rana is a simple hotel-- a courtyard surrounded by room on the ground level and some rooms upstairs. I stayed there this xmas and new years. The staff were all great. Jez,... more

My wife and I stayed at the Rana Cansada towards the end of our honeymoon. We thought the place was great! The rooms were all different and very cosy, take a look around before deciding. The downstairs bar was a lot of fun with lots of drinks (try the limonada!) and interesting patrons. The location was great, we walked to... more

My wife and I went there on our honeymoon and loved it. Look - this isn't "The Ritz" and you aren't going to have high speed internet in your room. Instead, we did have A/C, but did not have a phone, alarm clock or TV (nor did we want any of these). However, that was made clear to us when... more

You get what you pay for at La Rana Cansada. The rooms are sparse, dark, and really hot. The vibe is laid back, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's welcoming. This seemed like a good place to hide out if one was running from the law. more

Over the years I have stayed at La Rana Cansada a number of times and found a warm welcome every time. I travel often in Southern Mexico and once owned a home in Playa Del Carmen. Ted and Pia own this small motel and have always gone the extra mile to make every guest feel welcome no matter where you... more

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Rana Cansada last year in February for about five nights. Although it was priced well (35USD), the room was fairly noisy and hot (had a ceiling fan but no window!). When we were shown to our first room, we immediately noticed a stong burning smell coming from the ceiling fan. We asked for... more
