For nature and beach lovers, the village of Grande Riviere on the Northern coast of Trinidad is an ideal destination. Wandering through the bush, stumbling on magnificent waterfalls, and enjoying the shade of some colossal almond tree on the beach are only a few of the delights the place has to offer. I recommend staying at Acajou. The hotel comprises... more

We went to Acajoiu as a group - however as soon as i arrived i realised this was just a perfect place to get away from it all and just chill out with your other half. Interiors/exteriors are a breath of fresh air - hammock, four poster beds, your own hut, your own privacy! I cant wait to go back.... more

Acajou Trinidad is located in the tiny village of Grande Riviere on the northern coast of Trinidad. The main reason to come to Grande Riviere is to watch the leatherback turtles laying their eggs, and the baby turtles hatching. The community has a special program to protech the eggs from predators and they conduct tours to see the turtles every... more

Stayed here based on the good reviews and we were more than happy. Beautifully peaceful surroundings just a couple of minutes walk from the beach, the huts were lovely - perfect for chilling out after a long drive. On arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and served welcome coctails. A great place for taking time to relax. And... more

Trying to find a hotel in Trinidad was difficult, then I saw the reviews on here. What a find! Acajou is a true caribbean experience that should not be missed. The staff could not do enough for you (thanks all!), the food was divine (we were on full board) and we would not have wanted to eat anywhere else. Drinks... more

Sadly my husband and I only spent three days and two nights but it was the absolute best. We stayed in cottage three and it was just beautiful, it was clean and cozy with wooden furniture. I suggest walking with insect spray, the mosquitoes don't give up and probably a small cd player to listen to music. Food was ok... more

My husband and I definitely enjoyed our stay at Acajou. As the previously reviewer maintained, it was “great for couples” and very romantic, rustic and a nice retreat away from city life. The rooms are basic but stylishly decorated and have an exotic feeling. At night, you can hear the chorus of frogs from the river and during the day... more

My friend and I planned a getaway after exams. To begin with when we arrived they put us in a cottage with one king sized bed although we requested two. They were in the middle of renovations I assumed since the place looked rather shabby. They also made it known that we had to decide if we wanted dinner since... more

Acajou is a wonderful getaway from the everyday hussle..You are greeted by a friendly staff and the resort itself is charming and very cozy.. The draw backs are it maybe TOO far for those coming form South Trinidad but the scenery is absolutely breath taking and worth the drive...and for those of you who are not the outdoor person this... more

We didn't realize how remote this place is! A 2.5 hour drive from the airport will land you in the tiny town of Grande Riviere. The town has a couple of resorts with restaurants, a great beach, and not much else. I liked the individual cabins. Ceiling and floor fans kept us cool at night and the bugs mostly away.... more
