1. an oasis for decompression
| J.W. Marriott in Heliopolis. Luxory hotel w/ water park and clean water. 40 mins. from Pyramids but worth it. Bonus- not far from airport.Kids eat free. Plan all Cairo outings from here. Remember to ask for English speaking drivers as well as tour guides. |

2. Pyramids Sound and Light Show
| Light show at Pyramids. Would skip unless very near to location. Tourist trap. Special nights in English otherwise in Arabic. |

| Sphinx and Pyramids a great 1/2 day out. Go early -opens at 9am. Very hot and dirty- only one public toilet. Take water and private or semi private tour to move quickly. Guides keep you moving so snacks in the car. Skip camel and donkey rides unless day is cool or you have older children. Do not go on guide's other suggested tours to nearby paper and perfume factories. |

4. Egyptian Antiquities Museum
| We did this and the Citadel all in one day. Arrived at 10 am. Knew rooms to focus on, but you can see all in 3 hours if moving quickly. Org. by periods, but start on top floor to beat the crowds to Tut. Nice museum shop. Cafe has very limited food, but good for drinks and snack Went to Citadel next 2pm |

| Well worth it. Go early!!! Hot and crowded. Take water. Do 3 tomb option and add Tut's. There is no shade and lots of walking so hard on kids but doable. don't carry much- photos only alllowed outside. We had semi private tour to here and temple near by. Do Not go on guides other suggested stops to paper, and perfume factories |
