Taking your children and seeing, feeling, and touching history is a chance in a lifetime. I would definitely do it again because we forget a whole lot when we get caught up in our everday lives. My children absolutely loved climbing, reading, and listening to the history of the event that caused the writing of the Star Spangled Banner. Please... more

I love to visit old forts which have history in them, Fort McHenry has just that. A poem was scibbled down after the British fleet was turned back, this poem later became our national anthem. You can take Ed Kane's water taxi to the fort or you can drive by car (parking is free) which is easy to do from... more

There is a lot to see and do at Fort McHenry, and you can easily spend a half a day there. When I went I first stopped at the visitor Center, which small, and kind of old. There are a few artifacts and displays about the fort. There is also a 15 minute movie which is a great way to... more

Located just a short drive or water taxi ride outside of Baltimore's popular Inner Harbor, Fort McHenry is a must see while visiting Baltimore. This fort and its tall flag pole are what Francis Scott Key saw as he wrote The Star Spangled Banner during the War of 1812 and the fort is well preserved today for all to still... more

If you are into history or structures of the past, you should definately visit this landmark. You can take a water taxi from the Inner Harbor, although we decided to walk. Probably about 1.5-2 miles, but it was a nice day and wasn't a bad walk at all. As for the fort itself, this is the first fort I've ever... more

I've visited Fort McHenry twice and I enjoyed it both times. If you're into U.S. history, it's a place worth seeing. It was here that a British fleet bombarded the fort in an attempt to take the city of Baltimore. The city had supported a number of privateers that had preyed on British shipping. The fort managed to hold out... more

Fort McHenry is a great place to go if you're spending the day in Baltimore. To get there from the Inner Harbor, a fun means of transportation is the Water Taxi. The visitor center is free and includes a movie telling the history of the fort in regards to the War of 1812. The movie is kind of old, but... more

I never tire of this national treasure. A new visitor's center is being constructed on the site. The grounds and fort are great places to stroll on a beautiful sunny day. The national park guides add much to the experience. more

The Inner Harbor of Baltimore is a fantastic place to visit but don't overlook Fort McHenry, located at the tip of the Federal Hill part of town. The easiest way to get there is by water taxi. It only costs $8 for an all-day pass on the water taxi but if you plan on seeing things in the Harborplace area... more
